FINALLY! We can share with you something we have been ever so excited to tell you about for some time now. Plus we have coupled up this lovely announcement alongside a brand new audio blog post all on the topic of one of those baking essentials: bread.
Another month has flown by and we’ve been up to some exciting stuff!
We took a long-awaited trip back to Ireland over Easter and visited our friends and family in Drogheda and Dublin, plus spent a day visiting some new cafés and restaurants in Dublin for a big picture post that’s coming in a short while.
We’re going full throttle into our audio posts on SoundCloud, having done three of them already. Have you listened in? Yoohoo! Here is a second helping of our voices talking about what we love to talk about: FOOD! Food and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and wonder whether they are doing more of a disservice to food and produce as opposed to the efforts of MasterChef, The Taste and the Bake Off. We have decided to diversify how we do this blog. Seeing as Russell cannot stop talking and loves radio, and sometimes we don’t get around to writing all of our foodie thoughts down, it felt right that we add a new dimension to what we do on GastroGays.
Hmm… It’s been an eventful month as ever, or should we say 8 weeks? Apologies for the lack of snapshotting in February, resulting in a double post this time around. If you follow us on Facebook, you will have remembered that we explained we were undergoing some changes and fighting technical demons with the blog! Semi-annoyed to say we are still experiencing them, but it’s business as usual on the blog front and we will be quietly working away on making this bigger and better all the while.
For a change of scenery we are out of the big smoke this weekend and have come all the way to the good ‘ol West Country, the land of pasties, cider and the best accent in all of Britain. We came to visit The BIG Cake Show, which is being held in Exeter at the Westpoint Exhibition Centre, and we’re writing this as we are sitting in the hotel, lapping up all that the South West hospitality has to offer.
We met organiser extraordinaire, Kim Vernon, at a special project recently (that we can reveal here soon, don’t worry) and couldn’t turn down the opportunity for a little weekend away to explore the awe-inspiring three-day event that Kim has put together! We’ve been to similar food events and shows before, and this one in particular can really compete with the best of them.
